Hey Everyone,
I'm Ryn,and this is my online portfolio. This is my story of apparel inspiration. I always wanted to be a pastry chef. I wanted to move back to New York and go to the Culinary Institute of America and be known for my delicious and unique desserts. So where do clothes fit in, right? I was a sophomore in high school and I was starting in my 2nd school in as many years, I was thrown into a technical theatre class because everything else was full. I had never been interested in theatre other than watching the performances, and such. I had the choice to do construction, paint, publicity, or costumes. I didn't have any skills in any of those areas. I ended up choosing costumes, because I knew if I got stuck my sister could help me because she had some experience. I ended up falling in love with it. I love seeing actors up onstage dancing and striding around in my creations onstage under the lights. The fact that these costumes are so important to the actors to portray their character makes me feel like one of the stars of the show, even if the audience isn't actually seeing me.
"And costume is so important for an actor. It absolutely helps to get into character; it's the closest thing to you, it touches you. Some actors like to go into make-up and then put their clothes on, but I like to dress first; that's my routine."
